Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market

Edmonton’s original indoor farmers’ market, Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market, has a variety of vendors with a mix of locally grown, produced and homemade goods. The market is at the top of the list for Edmontonians; stop by 83rd Ave + 103 Street every Saturday between 8 am-3 pm all year round!

Strathcona Community League

One of the oldest leagues in Edmonton, Strathcona Community League offers recreation and social activities to neighbours, working to improve the community for residents! The non-profit league operates a community hall, tennis courts, ice rinks, a spray park, and other facilities. 

Whyte Avenue

Perhaps one of the biggest perks about living in Strathcona is how close you are to 82nd Ave, also known as Whyte Ave. With some of the best local shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment, there is something for everyone here, at any time of day or night! People flock to Whyte Ave to thrift, grab a coffee, enjoy a pint of beer, sit down for a meal, or shop at one of the many great retail spots along the avenue.

With programming for infants (0-19 months), toddlers (20-36 months), pre-school (3-4 years), and pre-kinder (4-6 years), Strathcona Tender Loving Daycare provides care for all different early life stages.

King Edward School (Grade K-6)

Drawing a diverse student population, King Edward School offers programming for Kindergarten through grade 6 students. Also, providing space for King Edward Child Care Centre, the Strathcona Nursery School, and a Fringe venue during the summer!

McKernan School (Grade K-9)

McKernan School serves grades K-9 students in both regular programming and French Immersion. Thanks to the proximity to the University of Alberta, McKernan has “considerable involvement” with the post-secondary school.

Strathcona High School (Grade 10-12)

Strathcona High School (also known as Scona) offers various bands, clubs, teams, and activities to ensure all grades 10-12 students receive a well-rounded education, getting a complete high school experience. Scona is known for its Advance Placement (AP) program, the largest in Alberta.
